HSE has today published the ‘Violence in the Workplace’ report, which interrogates Home Office ‘British Crime Survey’ results and presents findings on work related violence.
HSE publishes this report as part of its responsibility for developing and implementing policy on work-related violence.

A snapshot of working conditions in Europe today

Eurofound has just launched fieldwork for the fifth European Working Conditions Survey, involving face-to-face interviews of workers in 34 European countries. This critical and timely research tracks the current state of working conditions in Europe, highlights the quality of work and employment, and monitors changing trends. The first findings of the survey will be presented at the end of 2010.

Mining Fatalities Fell to All-Time Low in 2009

Preliminary data from the Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) indicates that mine fatalities in 2009 fell to an all-time low for the second straight year. Coal mines recorded 18 mining deaths, and metal/nonmetal mines recorded 16 mining deaths, for a combined total of 34 mining deaths nationwide and a significant drop from last year's total of 52 deaths.
