Effectiveness of a return-to-work program for workers without an employment contract, sick-listed due to common mental disorders
A participatory supportive return-to-work (RTW) program did not result in a significant shorter duration until sustainable RTW of workers without an employment contract, sick-listed due to a common mental disorder, compared to usual occupational healthcare. Further research is needed to consider how vocational needs of these vulnerable workers could be better addressed. Source: Lammerts L, Schaafsma FG, Bonefaas-Groenewoud K, van Mechelen W, Anema JR. Le troisième étage, facultatif pour les employeurs, est négocié au niveau de chaque entreprise, et...
Ankle fractures and employment

METHOD: We retrospectively reviewed 573 medical charts for patients who were treated for ankle fractures in the last 3...
The Effect of Self-assessed Job Security on the Demand for Medical Rehab
The interdependence of labor market conditions and the demand for health care has been addressed by several theoretical and empirical analyses. We contribute to the debate by empirically examining the eff ect of a decrease in self-perceived job security on health care utilization. That is, employees at risk of losing their job might postpone or even try not to use non-acute rehab measures in order to reduce their individual risk of being laid off by avoiding absenteeism and signaling good health. We use individual-level data from the German Socioeconomic Panel for the years 2003, 2004, and 2006...
